Grappa di Amarone

Characteristics

The spirit, the essence, the fruit of distillation; from the soft noble marc of the rich grape that gave life to the Amarone, from which it takes the harmony of the aromas and the persuasiveness of the taste. Soft, encompassing, elegant and refined with hints of chestnut honey, dried prunes and liquorice, the result of paintstaking, scrupulous distillation. With a full, decisive flavour, just like the grapes from the land of Valpolicella that bring to the distillate the unique properties of softness, elegance, richness and the concentration from the withering on trays. A distillation method based on the slow passage at low temperature through copper stills that is able to transfer everything to the glass that was obtained with so much effort in the vineyard. To be enjoyed with biscuits and dry fruit, pralines, cooked fruit, especially prunes. It’s perfect also at the end of the meal.

The Cellar

The Ca’ dei Frati company has been renowned since 1782, as confirmed by a document that refers to “a house with a cellar located in Lugana in the Sermion district known as the place of the Friars”.

In 1939, Felice Dal Cero, son of Domenico, formerly a wine grower in Montecchia di Crosara near Verona, moved to that very house in Lugana di Sirmione, immediately realising the area’s potential for vine cultivation.

After thirty years working in the vineyard and the cellar, his son Pietro took part in the creation of the DOC in 1969, bottling his first wine with the label Lugana Casa dei Frati, later named Ca’ dei Frati.

In 2012, Pietro Dal Cero passed away, leaving the cultural legacy to his wife Santa Rosa and children Igino, Gian Franco and Anna Maria, who run the company with the same passion and determination.

Le nostre Wine Experience

The closed cellar WINE EXPERIENCE includes: visit in Italian to the Ca’ dei Frati cellar with the family’s sommelier (about 1 hour), tasting of 3 wines according to availability (generally sparkling, still white, red) with savory aperitif from the family’s pastry shop. Fenice, lunch or dinner depending on the time of visit in our structure on the lake 1km from the cellar at La Lugana Trattoria with Amarone Pietro Dal Cero DOCG menu (risotto with Amarone and Monte Veronese and a second course of meat with restricted ‘Amarone, a taste of Amarone Pietro Dal Cero and a sweet treat, extra water and coffee to be paid on site).
